What a Simple Puzzle Taught Me About Slowing Down
For a long time, I believed that slowing down was a luxury. Something you do on vacation, or maybe on a rare Sunday when nothing is expected of you. The rest of the time, you move fast, think fast, and keep up. That mindset followed me everywhere—even into my breaks.
Ironically, it was a small logic Sudoku puzzle that finally convinced me to ease up.
I Used to Rush Even My Free Time
Breaks That Didn’t Feel Like Breaks
I used to fill every spare moment with something “quick.” Quick videos. Quick messages. Quick checks that somehow turned into twenty minutes of scrolling.
When I put my phone down, I didn’t feel rested. I felt overstimulated.
I thought that was normal—until one evening when I opened a puzzle instead, expecting nothing more than mild distraction.
What I got was something completely different.
