How to generate a custom module in the admin site

Hello, I'm trying to add some new functions inside the admin site, showing a new section in the left sidebar. Any help is welcome =D.

I saw the metafields configuration that create a new section but this is a internal configuration. I want to do something like that but with my own database information. Thanks ;)
